Mega Squirt Fuel Injection

Post by matwelli »

Any one here used it or thinking about using it ?

http://www.megamanual.com/

I am sorting thru the ins and out of distributing it here in New Zealand.

if you have used it how did it go, if you are thinking of using it, let me know as I am probably doing an order in teh next week or so.

I see they have just got the first dual dissy lexus running . The programmed this option in the ms for this engine . Be good to see someone try it here . The Cowleys rally truck of andrews has a dissy poking throu the firewall but I did not think he had two .

I have had my rangie running on ms , just fuel . Went ok . I have set it up on a suzuki engine but still working through that one , intermitently runs , went it does its great . And since the nissan ecu died I have been forced to fit one to that ( hence all others have come to a hult now ) Awaiting a trigger disc to be cut then the fun starts in trying to get it to go .

Off now to finish cutting up the factory loom :D

Its good to hear that there are a few guys using it in New Zealand.

jdeburgh - I saw the max@zl2max.gen.nz name on the Aus/NZ user group memberlist, he's in Palmy ?
From one of his posts, he has a few projects on the go !

Completed projects
RangeRover 3.5 MSI
RangeRover/Defender P76 4.4 MSI

Current projects
RangeRover 3.5 MSII V3 & wasted spark
RangeRover/Defender P76 4.4 MSII V3
Nissan trials trunk VH41 MSII V3
Toytoa Landcrusier some sort of six MSII V3

Rotazuk - Good to hear someone on this forum has played with this stuff, what version did you use ? would be good to hear how it all went.
Where did you buy it from

The decision I have to make (because as a distributer you need to order 10 at a time) is which variation to bring in.

The early version one cpu didnt impliment ignition as a standard option.

The new version 2 cpu does, but only single coil at the moment, so you would need a dizzy or a sequencer, and I am sure de-ranged dosent want to run a dizzy (or two)

There now is a software package that allows version one to run multi coil-wasted spark (no dizzy)

So am planning on getting in the version 3 circuit boards, the version 2 cpu, but also some version 1 ecu chips to be able to do the multispark.
Give me some feed back if you think I should get in some different options

If you were going to bring stuff in I would go with V3.0 boards and MS1 chips . MS2 chips are too exp in my optinion . V2.2 boards need more work to get all the bits going but can be done , the v3.0 board is just easier .

The ms 1 chip can run pretty much anything , dissy , wasted spark and coil on plug up to 6 cyl . the main reason I am going MS is to get rid of the cop's and they do not like vib's etc so using wasted spark and a subaru coil pack ( by the look of it ) .

I currently have the v3.0 board and an ms 1 chip wired for two optical sensors for input and two ign drivers . I pick up a custon optical sensor tomorrow , with that I will be able to remove one set of inputs ( the cam sensor on the engine has crapped one set ) .

Is it really worth the discount ordering 10 at a time , not much of a market here really . You would be the third person I know of the consider/try being a distributor . But what have to got to distribute , it can all be sourced over the net , and whats the mark-up like ? Anything I order is here within a week etc .

But cool if you do .

Cheers

SPLASH :!:

Thats the sound of me taking the plunge.

Ordered today 10 partial MS1_V3 kits, 10 Relay boards, 1 relay board case, 2 MS2 ecu's , 2 V3 black anodised cases, 1 4 bar map sensor (44 psi boost capable !)

Plan at this stage is to build a couple up, one for the PAJ as a demo, one for experimental.

The experimental one will be interesting, will be running third party software that really expands the capabilities of the standard package.http://www.extraefi.co.uk/manual/MS_Extra_Manual_Index.htm

Hey fella's

Ive been running and building megasquirts for the last 2 years.

I had one in my 327 TPI powered surf which i just sold.

They are good but you realy do need to know wot your doing.
im still learning after 3 installs on various vehicles.

I have a 1UZ in the pipeline also that should be runing on MS sometime this year.

The MS1 chip has had the most software written for it and it is comparable to the CPU in the V5 Link

matwelli,
who did you order your kits from?

ive been ordering stuff from glens garage,he seams to be the best and has been doing it for the longest and even replaced 2 units at his expence that went missing in the post on thier way here.

A very helpfull fella indeed.

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

I Think I have seen your logon in the AUS/NZ MS forum ? I am trying to get aproval to join, but the moderator has not been on the site since april 2005.

I ordered the partial kits from Al Grippo direct, the MS2 cpu, map sensor and cases are from DIY autotune.

I might need your advice in the near future :D

Ah yes,

I think the poor fellow was just a bit overworked.
he has done a brilliant job tho,
the forums wouldnt be as they are tody with out his (Lance)
dedication.

The whole site is a brilliant EFI resource.

Try the MSnS forums also,

they are in the mix of software development for the MS1

All my skills are self taught and mostly are a product of the forums and the megamanual's

tis the best thing ive found on the net,
has been a life changing experiance,
i now want to fuel inject everything i see.

just cos i can.

indeed you have seen my logon on the AUS/NZ forums,
i have been browsing for the last 3 years.

and your more than welcome to pick my brain.

Cheers,
Daniel

FINALLY they are here :D (after dealing with customs "and tell me sir, what are these electronic kits for and what is your importers code" all in an indian accent)

10 boards (V3), 10 ECU's (MS1) ,10 standard map sensors,10 Relay boards, two cases, two MS2 ECU's, one 45psi map sensor plus a shit load of components from radio spares.

Time to get busy, have one paying project right now, a 95 camaro running in this years targa, a couple of projects with de-ranged, my Pajero (why - beacuse I can - Emknaps the bug has bitten hard)and a couple of other enquireys.
Cheers,
