Can I drive without a front diff?

Can I drive without a front diff?

Post by Sausager »

Hey guys. I've bought a vitara parts truck. It has a good G16a carby motor in it, which I'm selling. I want potential motor buyers to be able to test drive while it's in the car. But I also want to pull the diffhead out of the front to put in my SJ, sooner rather than later. Can this be done nicely so that it can be test driven without the diffhead? I have FWHs if that helps. Cheers!

PS, anyone want to buy a motor or other parts? :D

Yep, pull the cv's out of the knuckles and cover the holes they came from and you'll be sweet to drive. I drove like this for a month or so with no diff.

And the hubs unlocked. I presumed it would be ok. Can I just unbolt the front drive shaft from the front of the transfer too?

Pretty sure the slip joint is part of output shaft so all the oil will fall out with no driveshaft. Cable tie it out of the way and keep in 2wd.
