hi I'm having issues changing into 4wd in my Terrano or problley more specifically how the do you change into 4wd without all the grinding noises I have tarted it in neutral and in Gear and in park. Help please Matt

for normal engagement the vehicle must be stationary with the trans in park, with no load or strain on the drive line (flat surface or at rest)
you should be able to go from 2H to 4H on the fly whilst coasting with no load on the driveline.

but will need to stop dead to go from 4H to 4L. you may need to push down on the transfer case to go into 4L when moving the lever back.

The key is to have the trans output stationary, (this wont work on an auto in nuetral as there is still some residual spinning of the output shaft when no load on.) and then to have no load on the driveline.

If the truck has had hardly any offroad use (like mine when i got it) it could be quite hard for the first few goes.
