hey all, just wondering what gearbox combos are good to run behind a 1uz in a hilux? auto or manual, PTO for winch etc. will be aiming to use the truck in winch challenges etc so whatever can handle hard abuse the better.

get an auto and manualise it, with the 70 series transfer option just need find the factory adaptor and it all bolts up like factory.. or get a LJ7* auto and swap some small bits and ya away running.. very easy..

how easy is it to manualise one? i do like that idea. iv seen a couple of pepole use the original 1uz auto box and modify a transfer case to fit on the back so was thinking that could be the go as iv got a couple lying around the shed.

Real easy to manualize,2 relays and a couple diodes and I had mine done in a arvo..other option is buy a shifter from RADdesigns in the states or similar
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....

This is my tutorial on manualising the auto.. I set mine up to use the shifter..

awesome thanks guys its a bit clearer now. its good theyre cheap as hell to convert too which is a big plus
