Been doin' a bit more thinkin' about this. Maybe head over to Westcoast early Saturday morning. Usual No Name rd, Cockeye creek and Napoleon's hill to get to Reefton. Could do the track up to Napoleon's that we saw before Sabaru Hill. That could be fun. Base ourselves in Reefton for the rest of the weekend and do tracks around there. Maybe even do Waimangaroa rd to Westport, Slab Hut creek etc. If there is interest in this I will make some enquires about some accomodation and try and get a good rate. I will have the boys and wife hence the four walled accomodation need.

Al, if you are planning to be based in Reefton, try the old Nurses Hostel Backpackers. We stayed there a coupleof years ago and it was cheap. Very warm and plenty of kitchen space too.
From memory it was $20.00 a night.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Sounds good Al, I'm keen. Will have to get the Mrs to approve it once the trucks running.

As far as vehicle specs I'll leave it to Al, but last time I went my truck was standard except mud tyres, recovery points and snorkel.

Cheers,

Bill

Snorkel, mudtyres, attitude and an ability to drink beer. It won't be too hard as I have the handbrake onboard.

Did this trip die a natural death, I was contemplating going but now I see there is a plan for central Otago on the same weekend????

I was going to do the Central trip, but the drive there/back is too long for the short amount of time I have, so will be heading to the coast. If anyone else is heading that way and keen to catch up and do a few tracks, let me know.
