Rear Panhard Replacement

So bent my rear panhard on the weekend, looks like if I try to bend it back its going to be a tiny bit longer and weaker. Truck has 2" lift, I have the tools and skills to build a new one. What specs should I make it to. Trucks a '91 Y60 shorty. Cheers!

Make it out of something heavier then bicycle tubing any you'll be right. Have bend one back into shape before was far to easy to manipulate.

Bent mine back into shape earlier, definatly way to easy to do. This is gona sound a little bit dodgy, but if iI do a good job of making it look as factory as possible but a bit more heavy duty I should be fine come WOF time

Yea usually if you can make it look tidy and have it used before your next warrent they wont even know the difference lots of our club guys have upgraded there ones

Bent mine when winched sideways, the oems are seriously underspec, cut ends off and rewelded them to some heavier tube (even std wall pipe or tube is much heavier)made the centers slightly longer 5-10mm from memory to allow for 2inch lift,check 4wdbits just4x4 or superior engineering sites, you can get heavy duty adjustables or fixed length rather than fab yourself
You will find that all the lower and upper trailing arms are also very light wall tube, lowers definitely worth replacing, ive also replaced front track rod and steering rod as they are abit light too.everything else is pretty strong on safari

no allowed too , long as you paint black how the hell would they know,
I made a standard length one using 20mm solid bar, mig it up its a low hydrogen weld it will hold up,
not sure if I still got it though

So just cut the ends off the bent rod. Wall thickness is only 2mm. Why am I not surprised it has bent

New panhard is built. Is 2mm bigger in diameter, is 3mm thick and looks like it came straight outa the factory!
