Re: sj413 hilux axle swap.
Why do you want to do it?
Re: sj413 hilux axle swap.
Looking to get a bit more stability and I'm upgrading to a much more powerful engine so just trying to idiot proof it. I'll. Be going with a spring over axle configuration aswell.

So what would you suggest steering box wise. Maybe use the hilux gear?

lux lc or saf would all do the job well
just depends on where you want the pitman arm located
opps just reread my first post as well.
should of said "shouldn't be to hard"

So what steering components from the hilux will I need?
Re: sj413 hilux axle swap.
Save yourself the hassle and just put the Suzuki body on the hilux chassis that way when you fit a 'much more powerful motor' it won't turn your chassis into a pretzel...

Fair call but wanting to keep the zuk body and chassis.

I had a swift gti powered sj410 on standard running gear 10 years ago, was the best club truck Ive ever owned. Never broke axles, never rolled where other vehicles did
put hilux axles under a zuk you will need atleast 33s to keep up in ruts, a bigger engine to turn 33 + inch tyres, get bored of that, go 35s,

Road registered or trailer queen?
Its what i have built over the last 10 months (an off road only buggy), there is a huge amount of information and knowledge at http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/13-suzuki/ i put up my build thread on this site.
i started with a SJ413 chassis and tub but i ended up cutting so much of the chassis away that i ditched the suzuki chassis completely then pipped up the whole thing which made it way stronger, the tub i removed everything apart from a bit of firewall, the trans tunnel and bonnet. I stretched it to 102 inches to make it more stable and safer on drop offs.
I used the hilux diffs and drive shafts but the suzuki transfer case. Trailer Gear in the US makes all the bits you need for the conversion, Warren@4WDBits in Auckland are able to supply all these locally.
I had a 1.5 engine and 5 speed which was not enough to power my buggy despite me only weighing 1050 kgs so i am currently repowering with a 2.0 litre and auto. I regeared my transfer case to 6.5 to 1 and my diffs are 4.88
I have carried out 99% of the build myself but still around $15K+
I owned 2 x SJ410 before this and they are such good fun sometimes i wish i still had a standard one.
Cheers

Got a grinder can get a welder. Was thinking of using either a 4age engine or try shoe horning in a v6 of some sort. Tyres I'll sort out. And I'm getting all the hilux gear from my old wrecked one. And as for beer. What would a bush truck modding session be without it. Lol
Re: sj413 hilux axle swap.
Ive got a Toyota 3sgte mated to a hilux 5 speed in my sj410. Goes nuts.
Re: sj413 hilux axle swap.
Your cheapest engine/trans options would be to use a sr20de fwd motor/trans, weld the trans centre diff and cut the axels down, weld drive shaft flanges to them. Just have to drill holes through the axels so you can bolt them together in the trans with a through bolt. Make sense?
I picked up a sweet running sr20de for $250.
