4.625 ratio Safari

Post by ONOescudo »

I'm looking at building a front axle for a Pajero based off road club truck. If I use a Safari diff as like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 370037.htm
could I use a Nissan H233B Diff head or even the gear set. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =909052624 .

As the 3.0l pajero has a 4.625 rear diff ratio and so does the Nissan H233B. But what I don't know is the Nissan H233B a Terrano rear setup or can it adapt into a Safari front axle.

I've searched a 2.8 Nissan spirit or Maverick with a 4.625 diff ratio.

My other option is to use a Pajero 2.5D 4.875 ratio rear setup and then source a Hilux 4.875 front axle - which now I type it out it sounds a lot more doable and cheaper.

The main reasons to use a pajero rear chassis is axle/diff strength, suspension articulation, coil springs, Disc brakes and all ready to go, hand brake, suspension arms etc... Remove sway bar and chop chassis where required. Pajero's seem to be affordable and Hilux and Land Cruiser are at the other end of the scale.

Thoughts
Cheers MIKE.

A 3L pajero will be 4.875 and the 3.5L with the bigger 9.5" diff will be 4.625. The 2.8td Safari's had a 4.6 ratio. All you need to do is find one of those! Safari axle is wider though. ARB's locker guide has all the models and ratios for reference.
May the force be with you.

yeah my 3.5 pajero is 6.636. But yes the 3.0 pajero is 4.875 which looks like the better option for me.

shameless plug,

prado front with 4.88 ratio high pinion diff.
My understanding is its slightly wider and cvs are stronger than hilux stuff.
