Toyota surf 3L 2.4 turbo upgrade

Found a toyota surf 2l-T on trademe for parts. Asked for all its turbo goodies.

Took to the manifold with a die grinder, to hopefully improve flow.

cut a 3l gasked in half to make it fit the 2l

Manifold bolted state on with no tapping or drilling in my case. Easy

Cut a piece of 6mm plate for a blank for the manifold exhaust re circulation port.

Turbo mounted up.

Next Water lines. Tig welded some steel tube i cut off a old motor to the 3l heater hoses.

Cooling hoses all hooked up.

Heard that using the oil return form the alternator was a bad idea because it to restrictive. Thought about drilling the sump but its just to tight to weld. So i drilled out the drain form 10 to 13 to help with flow.

Went to a hydraulic shop for a brass T to keep the stock sender unit.

Turned up the diesel pump 1 turn in. then adjusted the idle screw down to get the idle back down.

Very happy with the power. leaves a smile on your face.

Did you go to a 2.5" exhaust?

Yup make a down pipe the same size as the turbo flange. But spliced it in to the old exhaust just down from there. Would like to 2.5 inch all the way back but no funds at the mo.

Old clutch lasted 2 days And turbo manifold started to leak. Had it all apart again. Had my manifold machined with all new gaskets and new clutch.

Yep, had to get my mani machined to.
You will notice the difference when you get a 2.5" exhaust.
