Lobstrosity
Lobstrosity
Found My new project. Built by a guy in Hamilton, but work and kids means he had no time to finish.
Full custom chassie, 5 link front and 4 link rear, fj45 axles, hydro steer and mid mounted ld28 turbo.
Set up for dual wheels all round.
Heaps to finish but the major stuff is done to a very hi standard.

Got the motor going runs mint. Needed a new diesel stop solenoid. first start up couldn't stop the thing ha ha.
Started to realize this was a big project so decided to make it worth the trouble. So new strong axles where needed. Parts Safari

Re: Lobstrosity
The plan is to have a flatbed on the back. And if all goes to plan to cert it and use it to transport my Suzuki to 4x4 trips.
Re: Lobstrosity
Bit hard to set up a 5 link with the rear steering arm out the back. Put a bend in the bottom arm to miss it.
Re: Lobstrosity
New top links to make them 70% the bottom ones.
And some spring retainers.

Re: Lobstrosity
Very cool. Did see it on TM a long while back I think.
I think Tom may have stole that retainer idea from Ballistic Fab or something, as I used their identical design many year ago.
Sliding rear tip deck for easy loading?

Re: Lobstrosity
Very nice.
Yeah you might want to look in to the hydro steering legality. I believe you are only allowed hydro assist, but I don't know for sure.
Glad you went Saf axles. I think anything less would have been wasted effort.
What are your link ends? Custom housings with spherical bearings? If so, got a part number on the bearings? I'm deciding weather to go this way or just buy rod ends from Ruffstuff.

Yup gave up on the hydro steer when i decided to go road legal. Keeping all the steering Nissan patrol.
Rod ends are huge, they take a 16mm bolt. They from

Re: Lobstrosity
Found a l33 van steering diverter. And a patrol box mounted backwards, with pit men arm on the wrong way around, making it steer the right way round

Re: Lobstrosity
Will adjust the pan hard bar to match the steering arm once i have the steering box mounted up.
