Post by floatingkiwi »

Hi Folks

Has anyone done this? What would you use? Does it need to be engineered?

Been looking into it myself.

95 series prado the tank is central behind the rear diff.

The prado runs the same chassie

Then be the matter of duel fillers and switch for tank change or linked fuel cells

I think this has been done on the surf forums, requires either welding in or cutting out a cross member, can't remember which. that means engineering for sure.

well there is heaps of room for another tank in the 185s ,IF you have a swing arm type spare tyre carrier.
Long Range automotive in OZ do a 110 litre tank, but there is a certain engineering aspect to building fuel tanks, and the split filler system adds to cost as well, you might not like the price.
The nissan mistral has a 75-80 litre tank located between the rear diff and the tow bar, so perhaps that could be mounted up in there(in a kzn185 surf) for relatively cheaply?
