Project Buster

Post by imsohi »

Hey all

Thought i would start a thread on our 1991 toyota landcruiser

We brought as a tow vehicle for the Hilux and has fitted into our toyota family nicely.

It is Running 33 inch tyres and first on the list to modify was to fit a 3 inch exhaut system, which made a great improvement to low down power/torque. After that a slight adjustment to the fuel and more boost makes it alot more lively on the road while keeping the egts at a controlable level. A large trans cooler was installed but a rebuild for the trans in on the cards soon as it is showing the wear signs.

On the list in the future is a Steve Murch modified turbo and front mount intercooler then some pump mods to run a few more PSI

I sourced some 15x10 rims for the road tyres and after a sand blast they got the orange and silver treatment.

Next on the list was to remove the front bumper for a more suitable front bar,the first night every thing was stripped away and it was decided to lift the winch from the bottom of the chassy to the top.

Then the brackets to hold the bar were fabbed up and the winch mounted after the body surround was cut.

And buy the end of the night had the hoop and bottom braces all tacked up to dark for photos at night.

Pulled it all off and welded it up then some bright zinc on the welds the next night.

Nice Fab Work!
Are you going to brace the corners back to the Chassis?
If you hit some thing as they are, the corner will fold back and the wrap around bars will munch the guard behind.
Don't ask me how I know this :?

Yea is on the to do list just got sick of the original bumper after ripping both corners off. Should prob do it before I regret not doing it lol. Planning on doing side intrusion through to sliders.
