Hi All.
I am wanting to lift my Vitara LWB and have trawled through a heap of information. Could I just buy the spring spacers from Bits4vits http://www.bits4vits.co.uk/store/vitara ... rod_3.html and the shock spacers http://www.bits4vits.co.uk/store/vitara ... _1070.html and be done with it? Am I right in assuming the front shock have a spare 50mm in them that means they don't need to be replaced? it seem too simple to me, is there a better reason to use springs instead of spacers?
I can also buy a very cheap set of springs and shocks from a V6 vitara, what would they do to the 1.6 LWB? I'm guessing the fronts are beefed up to handle the added engine but would the rears provide some lift as well?
Cheers in advance
LWB Lift with spacers or springs?
Re: LWB Lift with spacers or springs?
You can get a full set of 50mm lift springs from Cobra for around $400. I think LWB v6 springs in a swb lift 30mm.
Front end goes good with an 50mm shock extension and removal of the sway bar.
Rear end goes well with Commodore shocks (+50mm length from memory) and a hiem joint spacer.
There are other ways of doing it but this setup worked really well on my v6 with 245/75/16 tyres (30.5" diameter) on standard rims. I had to space the bumpstops 2mm on the front and 5mm on the rear to stop the tyres rubbing on the top of the wheel wells.

Re: LWB Lift with spacers or springs?
I grabbed a set of these spacers to use in conjunction with longer springs in my SWB.

I haven't used them yet, they don't look anywhere as good as the Bits4Vits ones but they were cheap and easy to source.
If your new shocks are in good condition you could use them with the spacers, but you will lose compression which may cause issues? as mentioned in red on the Bits4vits page.
A lot of people are using VR commodore rear shocks or BMW 318i rear shocks as they have good lengths to suit a 50mm suspension lift
