New member from Nelson.

Hi all.
Recently retired tanker driver (wine/cider), and have bought a '96 Prado SWB, diesel, auto.
Nice wee truck.
The wife and I are wanting to do some trips (before old age really kicks in!).
Not interested in gnarly adventures requiring snorkels, winches, etc.
Have been down through the inland Bullock Track to Alexandra so far (Winter time, not too much strain but fresh snow added some spice to the drive).
There were 6 vehicles and the 'leader' of the group had arranged keys and access through normally closed or private farmland areas.
So would like to join any others who prefer a more sedate trip (compulsory 'Happy Hour' every day at 4.30pm seems to be about right).
Will look at joining the Nelson club for their 'shiny' trips.
Would like to do Molesworth soon too.
Have driven a lot off road in my younger years, in my WW2 Chev 'Puddle Jumper' that I rebuilt.
Must admit I much prefer the Prado for the comfort and features. Seems to be a very capable wee truck too.
Look forward to meeting some of you one day.

Good to hear from you.
I'm also from Nelson. We do a lot of hardish trips but also a lot of cruisy family orientated trips with the kids and friends.
A member on here is organising a trip around the South Island Early next year that might appeal to you.
details on his thread here,

Thanks Smurf (with a Surf?).
Yes, wife and I are more into the less gnarly stuff now.
Can't afford to wreck the Prado!
Thanks for the link re trip away.
We will have to miss that one as already booked with another group heading down Cromwell way at that time.
Probably will see that other group though at some stage.
I'm in Richmond. Drive a SWB red and silver Prado (it's 'normally' bright and shiny).
If you see me, stop and chat?
Cheers.

Had a Surf, had a few, Now driving an older Prado, with several dents and scratches. A shovel on the bonnet gives it away. Richmond also.
If you would like to join us on a quieter family type trip sing out, we have a group of 4-5 families, most with little to bigger kids that go out together regularly for weekends away camping/4wding
