kzn130 with 33" tyres

Post by Screwben1 »

wondering how everyone else has got on with fitting 33" tyres on 15x10 rims with -44 offset on your surfs.
already have a 2" suspension lift and get a lot of rub in front wheels.
can do a body lift easily but just wondering if theres any other way to avoid a body lift.
cheers in advance :D :D

Where do you get rub? I assume at the rear most point of the front tyre when steering and articulating? If so, there is a bit of room for fire wall massaging.

Yea man its at the sill/firewall. Unsure if I can bash enough to get clearance offroad during flexing. Just wanting some one who has dealt with this for a bit of advice

Ditch the 10" wide rims and go 8" instead.

They don't look as cool, but they'll help with your guard rubbing issue and also holds the tyre bead better on the rim when running lower pressures

For running 33" tyres on a surf/hilux, usually a 50mm body lift is required as well as suspension lift to get the clearance needed.

any big deviation from factory off set tends to take the wheel further forward or rearward, depending on which way you are turning.
The negative 44 mm offset, while giving a wider stance, is quite a big deviation from factory. IMHO

you can run 33's on a surf with just 2" of Lift , ie suspension or Body .
With no body lift you will need to cut the seam out of the bottom corner of the firewall and re-plate it .
With body lift you can just bash the seam over .
With -19 15x8s and 33x12.5 you should get no rub .

If I did one again, it would be a 1" body lift , plate the seam and 1" Suspension lift .
Surfs go heaps better off road when the torsion bars are not cranked right up and the front A-Arm are as close to flat as possible .

The 10" rims aren't really a big deal to me with low pressure because I've never been one to lower tyre pressure. Just wanted big dish haha. Sounds like I should've kept my 8's I swapped for these haha. Looks like a body lift is next on the list then. Thanks guys.
