CX7 Redrocks

Post by BMC »

Hi all

I went for a brief walk out at Red Rocks this week.

Does anyone know if a CX7 would make it around to Devils Gate with ease?

From inspection of the entrance when leaving the car park there is now a water hole on the right and very slight decline on the left into the deep loose stones and onto the soft sand.

I'm not concerened about remainder of route around to Devil Gates as from memory its mostly hard packed sand or hard rock?

But I wonder if there is a good chance of getting stuck at the start or anywhere along the course of the trail.

I figure if I use maybe second gear and made sure I had speed through the sand and loose deep gravel with no sudden heavy acceleration in might be ok.

From factory the CX7 has 18 inch wheels, part time 4wd when loss of traction is experienced and does not have high or low box, but simply triptronic and auto.

I have not been out to Red Rocks since I sold the 4x4 a couple of years back.

With ease, especially if it's a rental.

Track up to devils in easy, note where your air intake is and take note for when you cross h20.
Easy to get over devils.

Lake at start is pretty easy to get past if you have enough clearance - turn off the ramp just before water. Done last the last few times in my Surf, works a treat. Rocks just after it can be a tad tricky though if you lose speed
