Re: Facebook taking over forums
It is easier to connect with and have discussions with people you know, and that can be helpful because they know your truck and setup. Is so much easier to do photos etc
But that where it ends. . This forum is way better for advise and being able to search knowledge and share /discuss the good and bad where everyone can have there say. Invaluable resource that will hopefully stay alive because the FB groups certainly don't cut in these areas.

Re: Facebook taking over forums
Yeah, interesting feedback.
Its more of a converted boy racer crowd over there. ORE seems to attract more engineers, fabricators, specialised tradespeople
PFA Pic for Attention - oh for f**ks sake.

Re: Facebook taking over forums
The big attraction to facebook is everything is instant and contacting people is a breeze.
Being a member of numerous 4x4 clubs I can see when trips are coming up from numerous posts all on one page without having to search.
If I want to join a trip I can instant message the person running it and have it sorted in minutes.
Finding parts and help is another factor, just post on the page and 10 people can reply in minutes unless its a trans for a v6 Bighorn
But as mentioned above the technical side of things is where this place is best and with so many cowboys out there I wouldnt trust half of the advice I read.

Re: Facebook taking over forums
For those of my generation who do not use and cannot comprehend why Facebook exists: I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.
Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell passersby what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later, and with whom.
I give them pictures of my family, my dog, and of me gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering the lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch, and doing what anybody and everybody does every day.
I also listen to their conversations, give them the "thumbs up" and tell them I like them.
And it works just like Facebook.
I already have five people following me: two police officers, a private investigator, a priest and a psychiatrist.
