kapiti Certifier

Post by Mattman »

Looking at starting a new project shortly and will need to work with a certifier.

I am based in Kapiti and don't mind travelling but wouldn't be in a position to transport the vehicle.

Plan is for a double cab chop and axle swaps and bar work etc. If anyone has worked with someone they could recommend that would be sweet.

Cheers
Matt

They have lists of certifiers and what levels they can certify to on the lvvta site, despite all the personalities and opinions of some certifiers they all have to certify to the same documented standards so it should come down to who's closest rather than who will or wont pass the vehicle. Unfortunately the whole compliance process gets harder and harder now and to do shit like a basic solid axle swap now means your 20 year old 5 ton truck with rear drum brakes will now have to stop and handle like a brand new 2015 car with ABS, stability and traction control and cant handle like it was originally built to do. NZTA's currently going through an audit of lvvta so you can expect compliance to get even harder so the sooner you get your truck built and signed off the better :D otherwise throw a couple of $k into building a tandem axle trailer to tow the truck then you can build whatever you want and most likely end up with a more capable vehicle and save money on the total build cost :D

Hot rod bloke in Levin knows his shit, made me redo a bit but it was all fair, removing sharp edges from xmembers , DS hoop , getting brakes up to (above) new spec to stop on 35s.

All it cost was time and money :p

hey man I use Andy Smith at smith autos in Levin. He is good, but ya have to involve him in the project as soon as possible. That's the difference between doing thing once right and changing things
