hilux 3.0 v6 engine any good?

Post by roscoe7 »

hey guys, looking at getting a petrol surf for offroading, cant find much info on the 3VZ engine on here apart from fuel consumption, are they any good? Im not worried about gas as its not gonna be a daily driver.

Cheers in advance

they have never been very popular due to high fuel consumption but other than that they are fine :D

Had one for a couple of years, loved the power. But thought the fuel gauge was a vacuum one  About 320ks on rd and 120ks off. It was on 33s.
It put me off driving it and that was when petrol was around $1:20, bugger that now.
Good for a Lexus conversion, and better fuel economy

had a modified 130 v6 went well 33s but thirsty, had a quite modified 60 with a 3.0 v6 went well but really thirsty with 35s, rev well though. got a 3.4 v6 modifying now, a lot more power for a lot less fuel.

Ive got one, has a cracked head but not sure if that was the cause of the problems, replaced the water pump etc and its been fine. But has started using more water and oil again. Not too bad on gas, my suzuki escudo was a lot worse... and that wasnt a v6
