fitting cert plate

plate is on its way but the WOF place that was going to fit the cert plate and do the wof has backed out.
can i fit the plate myself?
if so is there any particular place it has to be fitted?

i have another garage lined up to do the WOF and they can fit the plate, but thats not until next week.

they send it to a WOF place for fitting.
that saves me a fair bit of driving and i can get wof at the same time. handy for me and no doubt they have better paying jobs to do.

Just throw it on yourself?

Mount it somewhere visible on the firewall where the VIN/Model plates are fitted.

there was a time the cert guy wouldn't let the plate out of his hands until the adhesive tape had been taken off the back and he had personally riveted it to the engine bay

not 100% sure. may just be dislikes modded vehicles. but possibility a bit of politics with work not taking their vehicles to him.

Fit it yourself ,take photo and send to cert man ,letting him know the situation with the wof guys, yep fire wall or inside glove box. No worries .

got a reply back this morning.
no i cannot fit it myself, i cannot even pick it up. old mechanic has to send it back to cert place and they will resend it to the new wof mechanic.
i guess its a case of only authorized persons can be in possession of it. i guess thats to reduce the risk of vehicle owner modifying the plate before fitting.

my cert guy only put two rivets in , other two were a pig to get in , did it myself, time and right gear to do it right hand side of engine bay

i've set it up for light 4wding so its only minor stuff.
2l to 3l engine swap
ball joint spacers, 2" lift. diff drop sway bar spacer.
intercooler
fairly standard stuff that gets done. i've got a few pics on here somewhere on couple of bits.

interestingly pillar gauges are on the cert. wtf?

only thing of interest was the argument for the driveshaft loop. technically don't need one untill your over 1.5x the power of the ORIGINAL engine. which would be difficult to do. but theres also the argument that because its mech injection not EFI its easy to wind up the fuel screw, therefore it has the potential to be over the threshold.
in the end i fitted a driveshaft loop, fairly easy and cheap to do and it saves them getting their panties in a bunch later on.

yeah I had trouble wth my drive shaft loop with my cert for turbo. But managed to get out of it.
