Nissan Safari new to 4x4

Hi guys I'm new to 4x4 and have just bought a 1990 safari I've got a couple questions regarding weather or not it has diff lock and how to use it and also what size tires and brand do people recommend for tires it has some 31 desert duelers at the moment

if you have factory lockers you will have a switch like this.

if not a factory one there could be a different switch for the locker, or you can have an mechanical locker, for that you will need to jack up the front or rear of the truck and spin the wheels.

as for tyres there are to many options and opinions out there depending on what type of driving you are wanting to do. If you are doing farm ramble family trips, beaches, dirt roads you will never need more that the tyres you have on now. If you want to hit some serious mud and want want to look "cool" get a small lift kit (about 50mm higher) and get some 33 inch mud tyres. The cheep tyres can be good in the mud but dont seem to last as long as the known brand stuff.

Best thing to do in my opinion is get out there with what you have now, get some rock sliders to protect your sills (not the factory running boards) and from there modify slowly as you find things that are holding you back.

Cool thanks guys doesn't have a switch like the one posted above will jack the rear up tommorow to check.

I will do a bit of trialing with tires and tracks that I will use often cheers guys
