Re: Wrecking 98 nissan mistral
what boost are you running to "need" more fuel.lolfh2014 wrote:Crash is there a write up on what you did to your pump? Mines maxed out we need more fuel
replace the plunger from that of a N/A QD32 from a nissan Homy van or similar, use injectors from a post 98 TD27/QD32 eti.

then you will need to "tune" the pump adjusting the Full load screw and Idle screw , as you adjust full load the idle will need to be wound down to compensate for the fuel pressure,
if you dont have access to a rolling dyno, you will need to street tune it by taking it for a drive after each adjustment ....the more you increase the full load the more fuel that will be dumped in(increased fuel pressure at the line), but this is where it can get fatal for the engine as even a 1/4 turn too much can mean the difference between 800 and 1000 degrees pre turbo egt's considering that the melting point of high carbon steel (valves pistons etc is around 1300 doesn't take much to realise that the combustion chamber temp is higher then the pre turbo manifold temp again.
The aim of the game is to find a steep long hill to drive up with ya foot flat to the floor and only reach a max EGT of 900(to be safe) at the top, the ability to stand on the throttle for sustained periods and not have the temp gauge go from 1/4 to your in need of a a new engine now.
mine with a garrett BB A/R 50 and intercooled was dyno tuned with 154 kw and peak torque was at 2840rpm at the rear's on 31 inch tyres, 25 psi and from memory they retarded the timing more then normal to get that figure. To get any more i would have needed a bigger turbo charger but would have sacrificed low end response which i didn't want.

Re: Wrecking 98 nissan mistral
Wicked bit of info there that mate cheers!,
See HERE regarding my egts not passing 610 on big hills/giving it death,
Ive got heaps more boost available, at the moment we wind the fuel up and the boost is topped out at 22psi, wont be any flow issues too.
Going for 25-28 psi, the turbos good to 32.
And because its not rolling coal, I think its not getting enough fuel

Re: Wrecking 98 nissan mistral
have you blocked off the overboost valve that those motors apparently have?

Deal pm me an account number and drop them in the post when you can.
Xmas is a bit nasty at the post office so just when it suits. Looking at the build up you've done interested to see what I can get out of my qd32 going into our lightweight patrol already has td27t kit on it but no further work yet.

still got the engine??
Re: Wrecking 98 nissan mistral
Hey crash, are you still wrecking your Mistral?
I'm looking for some rear springs for mine. My springs are quite saggy looking with no load, and I'm carrying tools all the time too!
Might be interested in other stuff too depending on what's left...

Re: Wrecking 98 nissan mistral
So rear springs are gone?
Edit; Just reading your build thread and noticed you went with poly spacers in the rear (what thickness spacer?), if you still have them I'd be keen!
