hi guys im needing to replace my head gasket as it has started to leak oil from below the 6th port on the inlet side from the head gasket
where would be the best place to get gaskets from?
1HDT head gasket replacement
Re: 1HDT head gasket replacement
Go genuine ,not after market.
Re: 1HDT head gasket replacement
Excuse the basic question, , but was it definitely coming from the head gasket, or was it possibly coming from the rocker cover(further up)?
Re: 1HDT head gasket replacement
mine had oil leaking down onto the block, traced back to the back of the rocker cover, it was a 20yr old gasket, replcaing it fixed the problem

Re: 1HDT head gasket replacement
so the leaking wasn't from the head gasket. it was leaking from the inlet gasket but running down the edge of the head gasket
Re: 1HDT head gasket replacement
I would be giving it a big clean to confirm where its coming from.
But oil from the intake area is normal on a TD... Crankcase oil vapour gets plumbed back into the inlet system and puts a light coat of oil all over the inlet manifold on the inside.
With boost pressure coming on it can force oil out any small leaks at gaskets or butterfly bushes....

There ain't no butterfly's on a 1HDT so the bushes won't be leaking.

That depends if it's a nz or Aussie new vs jap import....as to if it has egr/ butterfly set up.sarmajor wrote:There ain't no butterfly's on a 1HDT so the bushes won't be leaking.
But generally start with the simple or easy stuff rocker cover gasket etc. If it still blows oil out from the new gasket it will be worn rings allowing too much compression into the crank case.
