LN65 Hilux

Post by zukmeista »

So I got this yesterday and having trouble deciding what to do with it, '85 double cab with the mighty 2L 2.4 diesel. Done just over 220,000ks, motor runs mint and has just had timing belt done. Gearbox is tight and smooth (I'm talking about a truck here :P ) and no noise from diffs. Has a good set of rubber and big arse galv flat deck, also got a new battery.

Unfortunately body has rust, main area of concern is the firewall due to the double skin seam and also what might be behind it (will something get wrecked by welding and grinding shit?) Only a few other spots in the shell all are easy bog or weld a patch over jobs. Also doors have rust in the bottom as per usual hilux but don't think that will affect WOF.

Other than the rust I don't think there is really anything else that it would fail a WOF on. Oh and has live rego (farm reg) and RUC's are in credit. If I got it WOF'ed I would probably end up onselling it, from what I've seen on trademe they go for around 5-6k in roadworthy condition. Or I could part it out but not really sure how much parts for these are worth? So curious to know what other people think I should do with it... :)

Stripped out interior today and found a fair bit of rust in the floor so going to have a look for another cab and if I can't find one will strip it for parts.

Had the same issue, ended up selling as it just sat there and didn't get used anymore.. Same places as mine too. Rip

Its worth nothing parting it out. Best bet would be to find another cab for it.
Unsure but would a 2wd cab fit?
