Odo tampering to avoid RUC's is considered tax evasion and if you are caught with a switch the penalty is worked out at 14,000km's per year for the length of time you have owned the vehicle. 14,000 is considered to be the average milage a private vehicle does per year in NZ.
Also saying you have a switch because you do a lot of off road driving is no defence as there are several gps solutions to claiming RUC's back.

but fk me.. how many trucks actually run correct odometers these days ? give the guy a break..
