PRADO 120 gear change issue

Post by samurai »

Hello Guys

Hope you guys doing good, got a question with my 2003 PRADO KZJ120 gear change, Truck is done 285k and look like well maintained (got service record from dealer upto 220,000km) and this is a VX model with full time 4WD

Issue as per below,

From stop to the 1 st gear is changing fine and then next two (1 at 30km and 1 at 50km) is look bit sticky as i need to release the accelerator to change the gear and then again press the gas mine is 4 speed auto and 4th is at around 82km/h and no problem on that if i press the paddle too hard as soon as it cross 82 gear is changing to 4th.

This is ok when i am at AKL but out side AKL specially with hills it is really hard as release the paddle will drop the power.

If i press the paddle without release RPM go up but gear is not changing what could be the reason for the issue guys????

I think trans is A340F or something and ATF is nice red color and no burning smell, also no ATF over heating, Please tell me what could be the issue

regards
JC

Kzj120 meaning 1kzte engine yes?
If so have seen a few 1kzte ecus in the earlier surfs fail causing late shifting and o/d issues.

Hello Alistair

Yes mine is 1KZ, but i don't have any starting issue or O/D issue and mine is 2003 model, whould it be anything to do with gearbox?
