Recovery point help

Hi all just after some advice on rear mounted recovery points. I had previously put a shackle through the tow bar but whilst being pulled out the bolts to the chassis sheared off. I made a rear bar that bolts inside the chassis rails and have welded 50x25 blocks either side that take rated shackles, havnt had the chance to go out and use them but lately have seen/read some bad stories with things ripping off. Should i just go with rated hooks? Will try upload video for a laugh was a shiny range rover that saved me!

Im no engineer but rule of thumb is recovery points should not welded on. Bolts stretch and give. Welds break

If you had made your 50 x 25 blocks longer so it was that section that was bolted directly to the chassis and then you other bar work welded of that. With a piece of 50 x 3 flat bar on the other side to sandwich the chassis rail would be better, even better would be steel either side of chassis rail and crush tubes inside the rails.

Here's mine. Upper bar is the bulk of the original towbar mounted with angle iron inside and outside the chassis rails. Lower bar protects the rear of fuel tank and has a 2" hitch receiver. Certainly not as aesthetic as some other bars around but not as ugly as I thought it would be. Il eventually add some sort of keeper to each end to stop the hi lift from sliding around.

Thats a nice rear bar johnny, back to the drawing board for me. Does the the rear tow hitch allow for towing being closer to body?

Yea mate tow hitch is tucked in close so it doesn't hang up like the original.

A couple more pics, also has 2" rear springs.
