What are my options? What can i use out of the auto stuff and what gearbox options?

If you are going to the trouble of a manual conversion there is only one to consider and that being a D22 TD27 or ZD30 donor truck.

dont bother with the D21 manual, they are weak by comparison and prone to stripping third gear.

reason i say this is the D22 shares the same box as the R33 Nissan Skyline. Also know as the "big box" (although its actualy the mid range out of the three most comonly used by nissan.)
