Isnt is just straight through ? Eg high range is just gear box speed . Low range is put through another gearset to gear it down .
Have to use diff ratios to achieve what u want

High range on a Nissan is 1:1 with the output shaft of the gearbox. You would need to change either the gears set in the box or change the diff ratios.
Then put lower gears again on the low range in the transfer.
It would be easier to run twin transfers a ifs off the gearbox so the output is out of the way of the second transfer for the live front axle.

Re: lower high range gears tx12
The safari runs the same gearset as the early 4wd gtr,s / gts4's as Nissan need a strong set to go motor racing behind the rb26dett. So used the same internal arrangement just in a lighter cast aluminium box.
The theory......
Being a r200 8 inch diff at 4.3 the gearset for the skyline will have a shorter 1st gear.
Bit of. Mess around but if the opportunity arose to get your hands on one of those gearsets rebuild your box with the gtrs 1st n 2nd as the diesel will be taller to get the speed from the lo reving diesel engine.

Get in touch with Jeremy as Im sure he looked into a twin nissan transfer setup.
The safari box has nothing in common with a skyline box as it is truck based, you could possibly look into a gear set out of a Civillian or Atlas if you could find info on the ratios in them.

Re: lower high range gears tx12
the gtr internals are that of a patrol Dan. That i know as i took the 3rd gear and layshaft from a patrol to fix my gtrs gearbox.
oh fyi... and that also means the 300zx with the vg30dett also has them
ratio difference of 1st gear. 3.324 vs 2.785

Pete used the FS5R50 TD42 box, not the FS5R30 as used in petrol and rd28 powered patrols.
