Fabricator/sheet metal worker in Palmy

Post by Pj_Marsh »

Anyone local able to help me out with a project? I need some advice and some help in planning with the of cutting and redesigning of the cab of my Hj45. I'm capable of swinging an angle grinder around and a little welding, but some professional experience would go a long way. Beers and high fives will be provided.

Bit of an intro:
1980 Hj45 with a bedford bus style troop compartment in the rear. I want it cut down to the height of the cab, and the rear modified to have a better departure angle. Also going to cut off a lot of excess steel. Rear will be converted into fj40 style barn doors, vs the chicken coop hatch it has currently.

Cheers mumbles, I'll certainly need it. A further development, in addition to the fairly large pile of 2H parts that came with the truck was x2 gearboxes, of the fj40 variety. 1 looks fairly standard but the other is a 5 speed, marked 'Aisin'. It looks almost identical to the 4-speed. Also have the adapter plates to fit 2H style engines. Apparently the 5 speed is very low ratio, something like a crawling box but I cant say for sure.

Na its just the overdive adaptor on the end of the g.box. if fitting it will affect d.s. lenghts as it moves the t.box rearwards by the 150ish mm.
