Welding helmets..

Righto chaps, my current helmet has died. Keeps flashing me or just not darkening. What do you recommend? Will be used for mainly tig,but mig and some plssma hopefully(current one didnt handle this well)

I'd go spedglas or Miller
Iv had cheapys and both the above.
450-500 gets you a lightweight and comfortable helmet that you know will go the distance

Leaning this way for a couple reasons,local agent,also the miller and speedglas appear to have model specific lenses,this is a standard cheap lens to replace?

Generally you need to have four Arc sensors to work with TIG, otherwise you'll get a flash before it darkens. Speedglas are really good, Miller another quality brand. Have had one of their Digital Elite helmets for a few years now, used daily, cant fault it.

I bought this as a stand in cheapy as I had my speedglass at work, 4 sensor think it even has a grind setting (not something I'd ever use) the only thing I can fault it on is it doesn't have a plasma setting..... now for the bit that surprised me its better than my $800 speedglass, I have left my speedglass at work for the occasional welding jobs and kept this one at home for the work that counts
I do mainly mig, but the tig work I have done has been all good.... I haven't done any fine stuff yet most of my tig has been 160-180 amp alloy work
Ask they might have a loaner for you to try

I stopped off at arczone in my lunch break.ended up walking out with a lincoln 3350. 414 including.should be ok hopefully
