TD27T Injector Pump Leak - what is this connector?

Post by kmb »

Hi all

I've been burrowing around inside the engine trying to pinpoint a diesel leak and I'm fairly sure it's coming from a connector on the back of the diesel pump, directly above the fuel adjustment screw.

Here's a picture (taken with thanks from sibainmud in this post viewtopic.php?t=35306) with the connector arrowed up:

Can anybody tell me what this connector is, and whether there is a washer or seal in there that I can get at? It's hard to get a decent visual on it and I'm going largely by feel. Is this a spot that is known to leak or is there something else in the vicinity that is more likely to be the culprit? It looks like I'll to remove a lot more wiring, accelerator linkage etc to get a better look at it so I'm looking for any thoughts before I dive into to it. The bolt itself (lock nut?) was not fully tight, and I was able to get a wrench on it and tighten it up, but the leak is still there.

Thanks. It was easier to get at than I first thought. Mine does not have copper washers on it though - they are steel or maybe iron. Too hard for aluminium I think. Very thin too. Anyway I gave them a good clean, and annealed them (just in case they really are aluminium). Put it back together and the leak is gone :) But, now that I've cleared a load of stuff out of the way and fixed that leak, I can see another one which looks to be on the outer side seal. So it looks like I'm going to have to replace the seals too which by all accounts is a pain in the a***.
