I have a D21 Navara ute that I'm doing up and the power steering box has too much play so I'm looking to upgrade, does anyone know any upgrades? also do terrano ones fit as i have one in the paddock.
I am new to the forum so just to fill you in I have a D21 double cab with a TD27T out of a terrano and a QD32 Manual gearbox, 2" suspension lift and a 2" body lift.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Re: D21 Navara Sreering box upgrade
There are two types dictated by the size of the taper's splines on the pitman arm but generally if it is just the box any from a D21 navara WD21 Terrano or R20 mistral/terranoII will do the job.
IF you can confirm the spline count on the shaft of yours i have a D22 navara steering box here laying idle..
FYI if your D21 is 4wd dont throw away your old worn one as the make great replacement idler arms for the left hand chassi rail.

Cheers, I ended up getting some heavy duty tie rods and drag link from trundles and just need a new steering box.

Keen to see some pics!
Be careful with the steering box as there are different types. This pic from NPORA:

Most likely you will have the box on the far left, its important because there are 2 different taper sizes for the draglink rodend (not related to the pitman arm splines)
You want the smaller of the two tapers (earlier box style) if you want to do the HD steering upgrade.
Have you tried adjusting the play out of your existing steering box? If its too worn then I wouldn't use it as an idler arm, because you don't want any play whatsoever in any steering setup.

I have also adjusted it and it is stuffed!
has anyone done a D22 swap? D22 Steering box and D22 drag Link and Tie Rods?
I have seen the 2wd conversion but didn't like how they have the curved bit on the tie rods. Does the 2wd conversion have better steering geometry or is it just all new parts like ball joints that are nice and tight that have made the steering better? The D22 heavy duty drag links and tie rods are massive compared to the original 4wd and 2wd set ups.
