Defender seats required

Post by DieselBoy »

Hey folks, I'm working on rescuing this old girl for/with a mate :D :D

It's a 1985 Landrover 110.

So far it's had a whole new rebuilt front axle, including a replacement housing, a Disco rear housing with Detroit, new drive shafts, nee shocks, new air filter box, all hoses, rubbers and belts, electrical birds nest tidied up, some minor panel/dent removal and a bloody good scrub up. Oh yes, and the gearbox was wrecked to, jumping out of 1st and reverse. Hopefully we have a replacement box on its way.........

This thing had a month old WOF given by a garage in Prebbleton near Chch and shipped up here. The bloody thing was undriveable, it took 4 hours at 60kmh from Auckland to Hamilton because it wouldn't drive in a straight line due to every single bush, wheel bearing and shock absorber being beyond poked. That didn't happen in the month after it got its Wof.

Anyway, some muppet pulled out the factory seats and fitted some other useless BMW seats. Useless because Defender seats have a removable seat base which unclips, the reason being the Battery is under the passengers seat and there's a big storage box under the driver seat. Ya can't get to either of them now. Good access to the battery is pretty essential I would have thought??

Not only that, my head almost hits the roof and I can barely squeeze my legs in between the seat and the steering wheel. They just don't work. Muppets

Sooooo, does anyone have any leads on a set of factory seats and rails??

Any condition considered, Nth or Sth island. The truck is going down south next weekend

is that a former airforce one (or similar) with a LD28?
Pretty disappointing about the worn out suspension bits. Maybe have a word with the MTA about that garage?

where do you jokers find these beasts?
I guess it's more a thign of having to pay defender dollars to get a defender/coiler rather than my jew expectations.

Especially at the moment too. Prices have gone through the roof!!!

This old girl was in the early teens $$. If you compared that to what you would get for that money in the 2nd hand Jappa market......

Trouble is a Troopy is the only Jappa that comes close and your paying the same mad money for a Rusty one.

I prefer replacing worn out bolt on components with 2nd hand parts from the wreckers than fixing rotten land cruiser panel rust ;)
