Need 3L starter motor

Post by catalystracing »

The old faithful starter is getting grumpy and despite being pulled apart today and freshened up it is only marginally better. Does anyone have one that they want to part with, or can recommend where to get one.
Cheers Paul.

Thanks, did see those, but wondered about quality. Can get genuine Bosch one off eBay for $200. Is it worth getting kit to refresh it?

The brushes are ok so replaced the plunger and contacts.
$26 including freight from AES (auto electrical spares ) Henderson.
Delivered within 24hrs, top service and really knowledgeable blokes to deal with.

Highly recommended.

Still continuing to have starting issues.

So the back ground is:
3L non turbo, 96 LN107
New 7230CCA batt 2 years ago.(Calcium)
New glows 2 years ago
Charging at 14.4v
Earth leads checked.

Intermittently is turns over really slow, like flat battery.
Now just hear a click from the starter solenoid, and all dash lights, radio, clock go really dim. Seems to have large current draw.
Tried jumping this morning and when connecting the jump cables the starting car dropped revs, like it was drawing current immediately.
Then the starting car revs dropped even lower when trying to start the truck, still not turning over.

I have heard that small runs aren't good for the calcium batts, but it gets a 100km round trip once a week to work, should be enough to charge I would have thought.

Any thoughts, ideas or comments appreciated, especially helpful ones

Cheers Paul.

My 3L non turbo hilux use to do the same, turn the key to start either a slow turnovee or just a click, turn off and back on ànd it would start no problem, I cant quite remember but I think it was the solenoid, definately not the starter that was replaced to fix the problem.
