Hi I have been battling an issue with my injector pump on my old 1990 d21 2.7 turbo diesel and I am about to pull the pin on it when I found a 1999 era Terrano 2 /Nissan Mistral in a local wrecker my question is I know they are both the same basic td27t engine but is the fuel injector pump off the the later mistral/terrano 2 ok to put straight on the earlier d21 .
cheers
Terrano turbo and Mistral turbo injector pump interchangeability?

1999? you say...the answer is no. 97 onwards mistral pumps are computer controlled

well. ill qualify that statement.., it all bolts up but it would be one heck of a job as the engine loom in the mistral is completeley incorperated into the dash loom, abs loom body loom, so if push came to shove and it had to be done you'd be looking at a full loom swap between trucks let alone the injector pump.
Injectors are different sizes the turbo's are different depending on the year of manufacture the timing chain housing is different and so is the location of the vacuum pump
the mistral shares the same block and head but after that its totally different. the steering and assocaited switches are from a nissan P11 platform, the dash is not gender specific(it was made to be easily converted to either right hand or left hand drive depending on the market.
the transmission is that found in the R33 nissan skyline and if you happen to stumble apon a manual mistral it shares the same box as the D22 navara, the transfer is a non viscous from a navara so if you have a R3m-R terrano with the viscous center diff theres another complicated area wiring that to work aswell.

Just one question in your comments you mentioned the difference in timing chain housing , dont they have a td27t engine and doesn't that not have a timing chain?
Im just confirming that we are talking about the same vehicle. Im in Australia and they were called TERRANO 2 'S which I thought was called a Mistral in New Zealand

Didn't early mistral's like 94-96 have mechy pumps therefore would work in his terrano fine??
Only intercooler mistrals had semi electrix pumps

the round headlight model ( they also have a small bonnet vent feeding air to a top mount intercooler) has electric pump. you want one from a rectangle headlight terrano II/mistral.

I didn't say it didn't have a time ng chain. I said the cover was different... Different sensors at play means holes in places you wouldn't find on your earlier D21.grytvikken wrote:Just one question in your comments you mentioned the difference in timing chain housing , dont they have a td27t engine and doesn't that not have a timing chain?
