40 series diffs

What's out there? I'm after a rear diff, preferably braked and the mounts for a sway bar

Thought about using a 70 diff and moving the spring purchases to suit the 40.
Same width and already setup with hand brake etc

I've got a coach built compartment on the rear of my truck which really limits the diff housing length, I can't go any wider without cutting the guards. Bit of a pain, closest ive got so far is checking out a 4 bolt full floater off an older fj45 that I can swap 70 series backing plates onto. At the moment mine is an 8 bolt so the backing plates wont match up.

40 and 70 diffs are the same width just different spacing's for the springs.
cut the spring mounts off and reweld to suit the 40

40 stuff is getting harder to find now

I've spotted a cheapish 70 series rear on trademe, one thing im not sure of is if my locker will drop into it. Anyone know if the rear diff head is the same size? This ones an '85 bj70.

Just a thought
Beware that the coil spring 70 axles are out of prado and ran the 8" diffs.
The leaf spring axles are what you are after.
Yes the diff heads are interchangeable
