I know the caravans came out with the QD32 couldn't find anything there... Just searched the elgrande on trademe and couldn't find much. It appears all factory turbo versions have the electronic pump, the crank is 7-bolt as well from what I understand? Whereas mine being factory NA has a 6-bolt crank? So need a factory non turbo motor to be able to bolt up my flywheel etc... Is that correct? PS happy to donate a finders fee if ya can spot one for meCrash bandicoot wrote:Just got to know where to look....Nissan elgrande people mover generally non turbo and a lot cheaper.
That'd be the go. Basically need a block and another rod and piston...will leave three spares as well for the rebuild. Just make sure th crank is the same bolt pattern for the flex plate/flywheel if not ask for that as well if they have it...you probably won't find one much cheaper and rebuild gives you piece of mindzukmeista wrote:Have found a long block in Christchurch which was apparently a bit tired and smokey, guy wants $500 for it was thinking maybe worth a go to rebuild it and have a mint motor?
i thought there was something different in there. zd30, qd32t and td27t shared but qd32 and td27 where different. can't recall why, quite possibly i'm wrongCrash bandicoot wrote:FYI zd30 qd and td27 all can share same bell housing
dunno bout that, years ago accelerating from a 70 area into a 100 I was in my 91 mitsi l200 2wd 2.6 petrol and a 4wd 2.8 hilux over took me, I dropped into 4th but no way I could keep up with him.derk wrote:to keep it in context anything except a 2.4 hilux would leave a 2.8 hilux for dead
True... Have had a 2.4na hilux on 35" silverstones and it still went pretty bloody good, 100kmh wasn't too much of a struggle! Have also driven a 3.0na hilux which was just about slower than a 2.8...derk wrote:to keep it in context anything except a 2.4 hilux would leave a 2.8 hilux for dead![]()
Engine manufacturers don't cast different blocks just because its turbo. The difference is in the crankshaft having extra bolts to handle the torque. ...FYI even my pajero with a blown head gasket could still leave a 2.8 lux for dead.tweake wrote:i thought there was something different in there. zd30, qd32t and td27t shared but qd32 and td27 where different. can't recall why, quite possibly i'm wrongCrash bandicoot wrote:FYI zd30 qd and td27 all can share same bell housing
different flywheel is what i was thinking of, so possibly different clutch setup.Crash bandicoot wrote:Engine manufacturers don't cast different blocks just because its turbo. Cheers, rather stick with QD32 anywayslidenyo wrote:also of note harry qd32 non turbo to td27 turbo require a different throwout bearing due to flywheel offset and fork to pressure plate fouling in some cases
Are you sure? Cos if I'm gunna do a rebuild I might as well do it with the best bits.tweake wrote: different flywheel is what i was thinking of, so possibly different clutch setup.
afaik the qd32t has stronger rods and pistons. a lot more suitable for getting a lot of power out of.
not sure. i'm more zd30 myself.zukmeista wrote:Are you sure? Cos if I'm gunna do a rebuild I might as well do it with the best bits.tweake wrote: different flywheel is what i was thinking of, so possibly different clutch setup.
