anticorrosive primer?

Post by icekayak »

Ok i'm working on a body that has a bit of rust through it, and cut out all the rust i can see and will weld patches in, but want to spray something inside all the panels etc to stop any rust that hasn't broken through and to protect it further...

can anyone recommend a cheap anti-corrosive/primer/rust killer/thing?

cheers

Hi Chris,
1st- Get some Black Guard Rust Kill and make up some way of spraying/coating the inside panels and leave overnite, this leaves a converted metal surface with primer like coating.
You could then (if able)to spray any type of paint over that just for insurance and follow up with some Cavity wax or Fisholene once the paint has dried.
All of these products you should be able to get at your local Panelbeater supplies outfit.

Or for the BEST results if you can spray in side the panels is to use a Resene Automotive product called Durepox. This is a 2pak Epoxy that is waterproof when cured, not dear to buy but application with a spray mask essential. 8)

What’s caverty wax? Yeah yeah I know it's wax you spray into the cavity, thought I would get in before you flex your sarcasm muscle
