Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Well after a bit of a break from suzuki ownership and my daily hilux getting a bit baten up i decieded it was time for another project. A couple of months back picked up a 87 sj413 missing engine and box. Plans were for rear chop and 1.6 to 2L injected engine, basic coil setup and cage, winch etc. After getting stuck in chopping things up and fixing usual suzuki rust lost a bit of motivation and sat for a fair wile. Enter the next stage, a complete nissan silvia for a steal, Sr20de and manual gearbox and a nice fixed bucket seat. Soo one fine weekend out comes the engine curtosey of the neighbours tractor. Now to squeeze it in the zook, with new mounts and a bit of a body lift fits relativley nicely. Few more bits curtosey of the silvia and have hydraulic clutch all mounted up and working. Now plans are changing as they usually do. More power bigger wheels etc, the suzuki diffs aren't quite going to cut it, soo toyota enters the picture in the form of prado diffs, high pinion front and 4.88s. In between the buying car parts I picked up a 210 amp mig making progress come along alot faster. Enter this week, Time to give the diffs a freshen up and a bit more traction. Wekding the rear for now as its just a bush truck and off to the wreckers to find an lsd center for the front. Sold whats left of the silvia for wat i paid for it, more money for truck parts. Thats about where i'm up to for now, hopefully get the diffs back together this weekend weather dependant (no garage makes things harder). Will Try post Photos tomorrow

Few photos and a bit of an update. Picked up an LSD center for the front today and got the rear diff back together less brakes. Rear radius arms lined up with the original spring mounts so stuck the rear under just temporally, Will make proper mounts up further forward when time allows

Few more bits and pieces done. Prado diffs semi mounted, wheel base stretched about 400mm and rear gaurds cut to suit. Plan is for a copy of Dobbin engineerings X-Link on the front and trial a singal radius arm setup on the rear or triangulated 4 link if the radius arm setup doesnt work.

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
wont be much flex left once you bolt those prado arms in can you do a link setup to keep that flex

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Plan is singal radius arm in the rear and have the other side located with just standard link. X-link copy in the front with radius arms to allow flex
Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Go the flexy toyota diffed sj's

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Well have been a bit slack in the way of updates. Have gone away from the radius arm setup and now running triangulated 4 link rear and planned three link or triangulated 4 link front, whatever has better clearance once i get the new custom sump fitted to the engine. Picked up a factory toyota locker for the rear, has been converted to air ram actuation, just need to change the c&p to 4.88. Rear diff all trussed and most of the mounts tacked on. Next step is make up the arms and test out the travel and make sure nothing binds. Will try get up photos asap
Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Sounding like your getting somewhere now
Mines running a 3 link + panhard front and it outflexes the rear leaves by miles. Looks like someones welded mounts to the chassis for a rear 4 4 link too but I dont know if I'll ever get round to that

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Have a set of 16" coilovers so want to get all i can out of them. Cant make arms any longer or they will overlap haha
Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
I think mines mostly limited by the shocks but haven't unhooked them yet to test. The rears look like probably standard. Fronts are quite long but probably could be longer with decent shock hoops rather than the primitive box section with a pin thru the end.

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Had the same drama in my old 410, had the longest shocks that would fit and still limited front flex. Few pics, were taken prior to decision to run 4 link
Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Most trucks are let down from by the front so I'm quite happy the front flexes better than the back. The front uppers have adjustable pin holes are are currently on the highest, so assuming they are nowhere near fully compressed at up travel I could probably drop them down and get more droop. Rears I just need to go raid some longer shocks off something and maybe triangate the upper mounts to get the extra length in. Not expecting a monster like yours just trying to make the best of what someone's already modified. Probably once the leaves are knackered I'll look into linking the rear. But for now just want to get it going enough for a play
It probably would go more, but I could hear the retaining timber starting to crack haha

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
So picked up a 37" wrangler on beadlock as a spare, had afew snapped bolts and needed a good tidy up. Decided to go up to m8 cap screws as was only m6 24 bolt and give it a lick of paint. Bit of messing around and redrilled and hand tapped 24 holes then redrilled the locking ring

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Those familiar with Sj zooks will know that the chassis rails flare out towards the back which did not work so well for the planned coilover mounting locations. Goodbye original xmembers and now the rails are parallel front to back. Didnt get much in the way of photos but new gbox xmember welded in and new rear done, will add more once transfer finds its new home

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
So having pushed the diff back rather a long way and running 37" tyres quite alot had to be cut out of the rear. Still want it to look like a zook so kept asmuch in the body as i could. Cut out rear wheel wells and lower section of c pillar. Remade the rear supports for fenders from light box section and cut gaurds to clear the massive rubber

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Got around to making the sliders, 50mm heavy wall, so shouldnt bent in a hurry. New body mounts in too so is finlly sitting right. New mounts gave approx 30mm body lift which was needed to clear gbox and engine without having to cut the tunnel and also allowing the transfer to be lifted up a bit for a flatter belly

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Spent a bit of time getting some of the body work done. Cut out and patched afew rust holes and welded up the exterior join on the pillar, what a pain in the ass to weld. Still have afew body patches and floors to do aswell as the inner join on the pillar

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Bought myself a new toy, 40a plasma cutter, works a treat cutting out suspension brackets and made cutting the old mounts off the diff a breeze. Decided to brace the rear housing and get to work on the 4 link mounts. Also had a package arrive from the states, 16 rod ends with missalignment spacers and weld bungs, all ready to make up the arms just need more tube

Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
Mocked up coilover pacement and cut more from front gaurds, still needs more of a trim. Top of coilover will just poke out of bonnet. Also got an idea of where to mount sspare wheel and ground anchor. Cant wait to get this thing going. Also test fitted to front, needs alot more cutting
Re: Suzuki SJ413 (whats left of one anyway)
