Safari 3" lift kit
Hi all,
I have a SWB safari Y60 im looking to lift as the current factory suspension has sagged as well as i plan on putting some 35" tyres on it at a later date.
Doing some research its all abit airy, My questions are
with a 3" suspension lift will it still drive well on road still? Im trying to avoid going the drop box road.
And will i fit 35" tires (looking at simex).
Cheers in advance.

I don't like drop boxs either, I have always done caster plates instead on caster bushes, and longer rear lower control arms. Minimal driveline shudder and drives nice, you may need adjustable panhards, setup properly it should handle as good a factory.
GU patrol 35s ect.

Castor bushes will do the job but tend to wear quicker than factory bushes with drop boxes.
3" is about as far as you can go before you'll run into issues with the rear driveshaft uj angles on a swb.
However in the grand scheme of things 3" isn't a lot of lift.
Coils
Shocks
Adjustable panhards
castor correction (bushes or drop boxes) Personally I prefer drop boxes because they sort the castor and also space down your gearbox x member which helps with rear driveshaft angles.
Brake hoses
I can sell you everything you need if your interested

Re: Safari 3" lift kit
I have had a 3in efs spring and shock lift for 7-8years. Castor bushes done during install and they're still fine. I spaced by gearbox crossmember slightly although I think it wasn't necessary. Installed a rear brake hose in the front as they are longer. Adjustable panhards would be nice but diffs aren't that out of alignment.
I fit 35 creepys with that, guard trimming and a little rear bumpstop extension. If the Simex's are oversize they could rub a bit.

Re: Safari 3" lift kit
no drop boxes, yes, it will handle like factory due to the front axle not moving , stiff as a board.
otherwise buy superior engineering front arms made for a three inch lift.
caster bushes help caster not movement .
longer lower rear arms heavy duty and adjustable top arms to help d /shaft angle ( yet to do that bit on mine)

Cheers for all the input guys much appreciated.
Re: Safari 3" lift kit
May want to check rear drive shaft length as may need a drive shaft spacer especially if you go for upgraded and longer rear arms
Re: Safari 3" lift kit
just a 3" lift will have the driveshaft 25 mm longer

Re: Safari 3" lift kit
I noticed today my rear trailing arms are bent so ill be getting upgraded longer arms as soon as i have installed a lift kit. Hoping the 3" lift going clear my 35" silverstones haha!!
Re: Safari 3" lift kit
may need to extend rear bump stop to stop rubbing ,or put up with it like i do , and give the guards a thump to clear when full extension on each side

Re: Safari 3" lift kit
Another question some of y'all maybe able to answer is will i get away using 3" lift springs with 4" lift shocks to maximize the most flex possible?
Cheers

You may run into issues with the coils not remaining captive. If you only want a 3" lift, but extra flex, you can use Dobinson super flex coils, with longer shocks.yourlocalheadhunter wrote:Another question some of y'all maybe able to answer is will i get away using 3" lift springs with 4" lift shocks to maximize the most flex possible?

Bit more involved than just throwing them in, and you only get so much flex from a standard front end
