LN106 Steering play

Post by NJV6 »

My Hilux has an epic amount of play in the steering and it is mostly coming from the link arm. As I am using it I have not pulled it apart but what do i need to fix it? It looks like there is a part pressed into the pitman arm - that piece is moving in the arm. Do i need a new pitman to get the ball joint or is it a replaceable part?
Then there is the movement in the link arm joint itself where it meets the pitman arm, its adjusted as far in as I can so need replaced. rebuild or replace?

Think they are adjustable pull the split pin and turn the very end with a coin

Cheers, I have got it fixed. Rebuilt both ends and new knobby for pitman arm. Getting pitman arm off was hardest, had to take sterring box out and hit it with a fbh. Much nicer to drive in the paddocks now.

Didn't even know you could get those drag link joint rebuild kits! I'll be sure to remember that when mine needs replacing.
