Hi everyone,
My 1978 Series 3 is due a WOF but my usual mechanic based in Miramar is away at the moment.
Does anyone know of any classic-Landrover knowledgeable garage in the Wellington area (preferably central / southern)?
Really don't want to take it into VTNZ as I'm sure they would fail it on the factory-standard oil leaks alone.
Thanks,
Mark,
Island Bay, Wellington.

Mines a dark green SWB hard top.
Yep - I have been going to Paul B for a few years and he is great. Unfortunately I have not been able to contact him in the past couple of weeks and the WOF expired last Wednesday!

Not the one with the period-correct genuine parts rear mudflaps, with the gold lettering? Geeky, I know.
Mmmm Pauls out of town, have you had a chat w/ John at the Toy Shop? (King St). New ownership, a lot better. 'Common sense' attitude for vintage Rovers. They'd at least give it a quick look over

Yep = that sounds like mine - Very proud of those mudflaps!lax2wlg wrote:Not the one with the period-correct genuine parts rear mudflaps, with the gold lettering?
I've ended up booking it into Driscoll Motors as they have done a couple of jobs on the landrover in the past (last time was when it 'ejected' #1 spark plug - they could hear me coming from miles away) and seemed to know their way around older motors.
I'll definitely give the Toy Shop a visit though if Paul is going to be away for a while.
Re: WOF Mechanic in Wellington
Ahhh... she's a great looking Rover, the mudflaps really set it off! Mine's (early SWB 2a, 2.25 petrol) currently at the bare chassis stage, about to finish the bulkhead replacement repairs (new floorpans etc) and then I get to the put the meccano set back together....
Other than the rear crossmember and one of the front spring hangers, the chassis is straight and rust free... I thought that was quite impressive for a 56 year old vehicle. Bulkhead different story but they all seem to do that....
Good luck with the wof!
