pajero- noisy-hyd-tappets

Post by shallowman »

who's had to do these....are they simple enough or best left to a dealer...

I understand that on my 3.5 petrol I will need to replace all thirty something of them....and will this fix my hard starting after it get's warm it seems - as if its a bit of vapour lock in the fuel injection.....and either a little bit of throttle or simply treating the hard starting as being flooded and holding the accelerater fully open and in effect over fueling the cylinder's, and starting it on the starter will start it.

thanks ... :D

Use a product called MBL 8 from Pro-ma, works a treat on both 3.5 and 3/0 V6 engines.

Your hard starting is not related to the lifter noise. Best to get the engine properly checked by the agents (Mitsubishi).

thanks for the tip.....I had heard a oil treatment such as this would seattle things down in the lifter dept...by removing varnishing which seems to be in part -part of the course.....

I have also had a friend advise me that it my be something in the on brd computer in regards to the hard starting.....either being a engine sensor or the computer its self...either way i need to get the good lads at mitsi to plug in their diagonstic tools to work out that one....oh -well its off the the agents to see what comes up.

Ive also had the noisy lifter problem before on a bighorn and my pajero now, solved the problem by using a thinner and fully synthetic oil, not a squeak out of em since.

This stuff is good and most mitsi dealers stock it as most mitsi's have the same problem with tappet noise.
The injectors are also quite noisy and can sound like a lifter noise
And last of all make sure the oil you are useing is the wright stuff, with mitsi's its usualy very thin
