Re: vitara solid axle build
diff all centred up and made to suit the job as in offset of the head etc
swivels are just tacked in untill mounted on the radius arms thenn caster can be sorted when its at ride height

Re: vitara solid axle build
Looks good! Very interested to see how you front axle set up works out, what do you plan on doing for axle shafts?

Re: vitara solid axle build
so been a few days since i posted here .... week or so haha
went and sawed the factory mounts off a pajero chassis for the trailing arms what a arrrssseeee of a job lol
cleaned them up and fitted them onto the chassis where i needed them i wasnt sure of placement as in do i run them on the under side or out side but i went with out side so far so good .... fingers crossed
made a plate to beef up the chassis rail at the front as chassis was only made of 2mm so ran some 3mm down it to make it stronger you cant see in the pic but i have drilled a large hole through the plate and secured the plate in the middle also so plate is fully welded on the edge and also in the middle
went to the scrappys today and got some heavy wall pipe for the steeering shafts that are now longer so have sorted that as well today
i allways go for the paint it when its together method and it allways looks crap and cheap so i buffed the diff head down today primed it and brush painted it with a couple coats of blaaaaaaccckkk my favourite colour haha
ended up fully welding the brackets and priming around the brackets and the parts of the housing i was finnished with
yet to come is the panhard mounts and the shaft it self i was planning on running a pajero factory panhard but i think the bushes will bind and steal some travel/ flex
ill dump a hole heap of pics here
not bad for a young bugger in a cramped single garage i reckon haha quite stoked how its coming along

Re: vitara solid axle build
got the truck together enough to drive it today after making the panhard brackets and making what may be the most piece of over kill panhard for a suzuki haha i ended up going with a cat1 size tractor link (for using impliments behind tractors ) they use a very robust rose joint / rod end so i have sorted that mounted it heres a flex shot i think i need softer springs yet

Re: vitara solid axle build
Looking good man. Bring on the axles shafts

Re: vitara solid axle build

Re: vitara solid axle build
Did more than a bit of work on my zook
Rear lokka fitted, 30mm lift springs in the rear, 50mm in the front, front steel diff fitted, top hat flip, manual hubs, oh and a sneaky lil suspension mod
All done in about 8 hrs including a test run
Thanks for the help, love working with ya
Cheers, Paul.

Re: vitara solid axle build
so got a bit done did the rear end while i was waiting
shaved the bottom off the diff ,added diff trusses mainly due to having them laying round for a 413 so made them fit
added discs and vr4 galant calipers
used a boc locker
in the rear and installed it and repositioned the shocks as well
added a fiddle brake set up as well got this from e bay and mainly went with this design to save space in a tight cab
and man what a bastard to bleed up !!! took 3 litres of fluid and a lot of time and swearing !!!
sorted now
few parts to tidy up then waiting on axles

Re: vitara solid axle build
since my last post ive decided i should grow a pair and keep the bastard truck haha
so today i fitted up the axles and fitted some sweet interior lights ! 60mm square led work lights its like day time in there !
ordered a air locker ... cos you know nothing like a freshly imported part to re ignite the drive to finnish the build !
also collected some auto trans parts so i can convert it to auto !
one so the mrs can have a drive ! two i love having a park position knowing there is a steel pin locking you truck in place is allways nice !
and 3 i loose omentum between 1st and 2nd and can create wheel spin and make hill starts a head ache so auto should solve that ive chosen the 4 speed ecu controlled unit so i can later on make a manual controll computer for it when i feel all the creases are ironed out
also picked up some spare front guards as they are just a consumable item
not sure if anyones even reading these posts so flick a comment if you are

Re: vitara solid axle build
so another weekend is here !
i ordered some mean 10 inch travel bilstein shocks from 4wdstuff gret guys btw! (shameless plug there !)
fitted them up yesterday used the modified mount i had made on the diff housing earlier andc mr suzuki the legend put a crossmember right where i needed one so drilled through that 100mm off centre and ended up using honda accord 97 ish 2.2l front springs in it they are damn close to being grouse ! soft enough that with all my junk on the tray it dosent loose too much height but still a long ass spring !!!
today should see the airlocker being installed into my spare diff head
and hopefully my gearbox in the old tow rig re installed and sold welll fingers crossed !
will post pics of the tre airlocker and install when i do it
heres some pics for ya troubles
subaru seats from a subaru outback
the front drive flanges
rear end
and also my tray i want to change but not sure on design yet
