Call in at your local Police Station and ask at the front desk. They will love to hear from you.

The problem with a digital speedo is it is likely used for more ECU data than just speed.

The thought process is the same for digital speedo vs cable speedo.

If it sees extensive time off road then you can log book it and apply for a refund pretty easily.

most have speed as an input into ecu for a few different functions. hence if its doesn't get an input it can go into limp mode.
auto gearbox needs speed input especially for the lock up clutch. newer ones need it for the airbags and traction control etc.

also many vehicles now do not have a gearbox sender, speed data comes from the abs system speed rings on each wheel.
some still have gearbox sender as a backup in case of abs failure.

changing mileage requires hacking of cluster unit and possibly other modules depending on the protection systems the manufacture has.

transport industry has a system for tracking with gps and it records off road use so you can get your tax back.
cannot recall cost.

if you turn off the speed sensors the ecu won't let the engine run.
if you turn off the speedo itself the ecu still records the milage.

with some vehicles if the brake lights are not working you can't start the engine as the brake lights are an ecu input and ecu wants all inputs working.

I think many people do have switches in their trucks but most will be an older style analog speedo, I don't know anyone with a digital speedo that has bothered with switches esp if you have to get an Auto sparkey to figure it out - might cost more than its worth.

Not to mention I doubt many decent sparky would be prepared to do it.

Pay your way and stop being a tight prick or stay at home

:D Is that why Ranger, Hilux and Triton were 3 of the top 5 sales lately? All diesel... if it wasn’t for soot particles Diesel is certainly the way to go, unfortunately they are sooty so get hamstrung with emissions gear. Economy and driveability is unbeatable!

And your precious petrol already has the road users built in which is in my opinion worse as I have to pay to maintain the roadsyou drive on with the petrol in my V8 jetboat!

If you don’t pay your way who then grizzles about the state of the roads??

Because of rugs/ and registration there is little savings / to be worth using a diesel/ diesel or better at loads and toeing etc/ its a good concept but the govenments adds ons have buggered it////// Why don't you put a diesel in your jet boat/
