As a bit of background there have been a couple of incidents recently at Terawhiti where people have injured themselves....the stupid thing is that they were in there without permission....this sort of behaviour affects our access...so you can totally understand the landowners concerns...he has been really accomodating to 4wd'ers etc over the years.....please act resposnably if you attend (and have loads of ORE stickers on your trucks to fly the flag)

This sounds a great day/weekend out.....

Bugger, we will be away that weekend. But it sounds like fun, especially staying in the woolshed. I used to stay in the woolshed on the other side of our farm regularly as a kid and it was great.

Have fun.

I read it as an open event.....am checking anyway before anything happens anyway....

Whilst I'm there please don't turn up to this event without any recovery gear or factory hooks, the guys running this are competition guys......at the very least they will be expecting properly mounted rated hooks and rated recovey gear, not to mention a fire extingisher, first aid kit, spade etc....

Pretty sure this is the Levin club's event so they probably have quite a few people anyway. They invited us (the feilding club) but we are down there quite a bit anyway and probably wont be there. They are quite experienced and I think that it should be left to them to say the why's, what's and wherefores? The event is for hard yaka and shinnies anyway. I'm also sure Terawhiti wont want 100s vehicles turning up.

C U all later!!

wow, really full! on by the way, the name is MICHELLE yes a chick is running this event! The guys that are setting out the day's 4x4 action will yes expect club standard 4x4's but as far as the shiny stuff goes it is open to newbies so they can learn about club standard we all have to start some where. yes the trip is open to anyone or club but numbers will be limited and first in first served. i do need to have this info from anyone who is interested in attending. i have recieved information regarding this event and i do appresiate it, keep it coming please i'm new to this too :P we want to have to wicked weekend so lets just get out there and do it!

hi there :D
i would like to say that in the LEVIN club we have female members who drive on trips and that we never discriminate. we let newbies along and give them a chance.
the trip that shell is organising i am organising with her and we wanted it to be a fun and relaxing event so that some newbies that we have met get the chance to get sum experience.
i dont think its fair to make sure that they have EVERYTHING that CCVC have on their list on their trucks coz what if they dont end up liking 4Wding and they only wanted to come out and have a look?
im really hoping the trip will be cool coz there will be kiddies around we want it to be a great weekend and it shud be wicked we dont want any polictics between clubs. We dont want to have to restrict clubs
thanks :D

My equipment comment relates to the not so shiny trips, yes if newbie then allowances are made. politics bad safety good getting muddy good as well....yes there needs to be a basic level of safety, all regulars are aware of the need for rated towhooks, yes this takes time. the right balance needs to be found between commonsense and over the top rules.

But then you are always going to get politics in any club whether it be the Rav 4 kerb crawling club  to the blindfolded tiddlywinks club...

This is a great opportunity for other 4wders to meet and play, you guys (and chicks) are welcome to join any ORE trip.....we have a teams challenge in 6 weeks
