Getting better mileage out of a Petrol Terrano??

Ok I have a friend....(no really I do have a friend :lol:

) who has a Terrano with a VG30e in it (no I haven't been drinking brake fluid and bought a nissan :lol:

) ...ok its a but ummmm thirsty, is there anything that can be done to make it a bit more economical?

try driving the chev in my cruiser then re-assess how economical the terrano really is :lol:

I did offer him some diesel to try .... but he strangely gave me a funny look... theres always the wooden block under the accelerator :lol:

Speaking from experience: run it on 95 octane. Regularly replace the air filter. get a good set of plugs and keep it tuned. Run your tyres at the correct road pressures and fit a snorkel and regularly change the oil and filters.

Okay heres one from the 'performance tuning for economy' school of thought - consider a 2.5" exhaust system with free flowing mufflers and perhaps extractors?

Throw away the 'prone to warp and break manifold studs' exhaust manifolds and put on a set of extractors. Makes a big improvement to economy, torque and throttle response.
We used to do about 1 a month at my old work, usually when they'd already broken the studs and been handed a $1100 bill for replacing all the studs and standard manifolds
