Project Scudo

Post by doddzee »

Time for another project, didnt think i would be doing this but this zook was too good of a deal. :D

Picked this up lastnight its a 1994 swb with the 1600 efi 16 valve motor which had a little experence on its roof. Its got a few other things as well:

- OME lift kit
- Safari Snorkel
- Bar work, tank and diff guards
- 31" Wranglers on 15x8 steel rims
- Arb Rear Locker
- In cab PRS
- Extractors (i think can anyone confirm this from pics?)
- Winch
- A/C pump turned into air compressor

The plan at the moment is to strip it down and thrash the tits off it. To start im goign to chop off the roof into a style side ute and fit a 4 point cage as i have a couple of club trips i want to go on at the end of this month and early next month. Following those trips ill cut the rest of the roof off make the cage into the 6 point to NZFWDA specs. May look into trialing it next season in either A or E class depending if i do any more mods to it.

If anyone wants interior parts, rear seats, doors, or any other parts that you think i may not want pm me.

Are you going to fit fiddles in there?

And since you're broke, does that mean it cost alot?

Not at the moment MrO will keep that bar for now. Winch has an electrical problem so will have to try and sort that out.

warlord225 will be chopping the roof off tomorrow night so you can come have a look then or on sat morn if it suits.

Got it stripped out tonight removing the windscreen was a pri*k of a job. More pics:

no there far to big for your zook, you'l need like a 2" suspension lift and maybe a small body lift to clear those tyres.......oh well jared it was worth a shot for the bar

31x10.5x15 goodyear wranglers on 15x8 roh rims. Its got an OME lift which i think is about 40mm and the guards have been cut.

Will see if you are still interested in the bar when i make a new one MrO.

they are 31/ 10.5/ r15 goodyear wrangler mtr's. on possibly trak 2 rims. the offset will mean you wont get them on without a bit of work but on standard rims they will go on.

4wding can get quite expensive but you save lots of $$$$ by not getting fines. im a convert aswell.

Got it running in the weekend after having to expell a sumps worth of oil from ontop of the pistons, what a mess that made :x

Had a little play around my place and i the gearing is a bit higher that i would like with the 31's.

What are my options for lowering the gearing with the escudos? Not really interested in spending a grand on transfer gears.

Im not sure what the diff ratios are, whats ratios are avilable?

basicaly you cant get any benifit from changing the diff ratios as there all pretty similar, theres no way to lower the gearing in a vitara apart from buying the transfer case gears which are $1800......either that or stick with high gearing unless you want to put another transfer in with a bit of modding like maybe out of a sj413 or sj410?

but the vit trans is combined where the 410/413 is seperate, so that throws that idea too.

I saw somewhere on the net, a vitara auto and trans with the front out put taken off, and a sj410 transfer on the back of that

the other problem, is that the vit rear drive is in the center and high, or the same leval as the gear box.

where the sj one is off set and front and rear outputs at the same height.

You may be able to put the sj410 internals into the vit case, but I doubt it.

I'm pretty sure from memory the 410 has a divorced transfer (seperate) and the 413 has a married (combined) transfer. hope that helps :D :D :D
