Mroffroader's landrover disco

Post by mroffroader »

thought i may aswell make a project/mod thing for it as ive already got a few things on my mind i would like to do, only owned it for 1day and i have already chopped up the front winch mount to make it smaller and more tidy, when money permits i will build a front tube bar with side bars that connect to the rock sliders, this will do for the minute tho.

any way a few pics of it being chopped up and i will finish next weekend, just ran out of time this weekend.....oh yea also ran out of money which isnt unusual for me

as it was without the winch
Image

the winch :D
Image

how it was without the spot lights on the bar or the winch, didnt like the spots, and didnt work anyway so there on trademe if you want them
Image

the slightly slimmer model, will post up the finished product next weekend
Image

thats all for now :D

nice safety gear in that pic with the angle grinder mro :D

the hot metal filings off one of those can melt straight through some nylon/polyester clothes (I found out the hard way with a real mint jersey)

he doesnt need to tell them that, he already has a v8. my v6 paj cost me $1300 for full cover at the start of 04, but i was only 21, it was a v6, that put premiems up, but the biggest factor was the two loss of licences in the previous year... :?

Looking good my friend. Make sure you look after my baby and keep it on its wheels. You should be very impreesed with it when you compare it to your old truck offroad. I miss the old girl already. I was paying about $450 a year for full cover through AMI (but I'm 35yr).

Hey dude, if you mean the hook that was on the back, I think I have it here somewhere. I will track it down and get it to you with the spare key. Cheers

John is right, There was a mounting plate in the back of the truck that bolts onto the rear with a rated towhook on it. I had it custom made for the truck. There should also be rated bolts etc there for it. I'm sure John will get them to you.

Okay I thought i would get this alive a little again. I have gotten rid of 90% of the suzuki just a few little parts lying around. so its onto the diffs in the disco  . I have decided that im going to put a nissan safari front diff in it (coming from a member on here) and in the rear turoa is cutting up the rear disco diff and a rear cruiser diff (that cloggy kindly gave me, thanks so much mate!!!) and he is going to weld the centre of the cruiser housing to the rest of the disco housing it will then have some brian howat custom axles and bolt it back in and were away!!!.....well thats the plan anyway

both turoa and I will keep this thread updated with progress 8)

Are you questioning my authority? :frighten:

It would require about the same amount of work to put discs on a salisbury, and the front diffs would still suck. The way to get around that would be to graft a salisbury in the front, but a nissan is close to bolting in. See what im getting at
